Maryland Pig Services L.P. (MPS) is the first independent pig iron processing operation established in the U.S. MPS was built to improve blast furnace efficiency at Bethlehem Steel Company's Sparrows Point, MD mill and to market pig iron to foundries and other steel mills. MPS produces forty pound "pigs" from molten blast furnace iron which allows the "pigs" to be used more efficiently later in the steel making process.

Maryland Pig Services has a production capacity of 2,000 tons per day.
